COVID-19 Policies
The health and safety of our dance families and staff has always been our first priority. We are constantly monitoring the safety guidelines and protocols and have implemented new measures to ensure overall safety. We ask that you carefully review the information below to help us maintain the safest environment possible.
Hand sanitizers are placed throughout the studio for easy access. We have purchased Gold Shield 24 hand sanitizer — a water-based and alcohol-free sanitizer which offers the advantage of not depleting skin's natural oils helping to maintain hands moisturized while leaving them soft and free of bacteria, fungi and viruses. The Gold Shield 24 hand sanitizer has proven to be more effective than alcohol-based products by killing 99.99% of germs and common bacteria with just a single pump and protecting up to 24 hours.
We have also purchased UVC lights and UVC wands that kill 99.7% of bacteria and viruses to sanitize dance rooms, barres, matts. The back wall of windows will open for ventilation (weather permitting).
Monitor and Adjust Policy
SJDA reserves the right to adjust our classes or policies at any time due to COVID-19. However, we will provide reasonable alternate offerings for all of our dancers and their families.

For the entire studio, if required by a new directive from the New Jersey Department of Health
Recital Accommodations
In the event SJDA is unable to safely hold a "large venue"socially-distanced recital, we will provide an alternative for all students. Costume Fees will not be charged until January 2021.
Policy and Information Updates
We will adjust our COVID-19 policies, if needed, upon receipt of new relevant guidance from the CDC and New Jersey Department of Health. This page will serve as our official communication portal. Please see our FAQs below for more.
We will continue to provide the most sanitary environment for our dancers and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us any time.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
We are excited to see you for another great season!

What are the benefits of dance during a global pandemic?Dance classes can provide much needed benefits as it pertains to academics, social skills, physical fitness, creative expression, and so much more. We are proud to be offering a safe environment for your children to experience the art of dance and to connect with their fellow dancers.
-
What is SJDA's health-screening process?Entry screening will be performed by staff members outside the building. — Staff, students, and parents will be temperature-screened using a non-touch thermometer. — Anyone with a cough, difficulty breathing, or fever greater than 100, will not be allowed to enter. — Anyone who has traveled overseas in the last 14 days must be tested before we can allow you back into the studio. While waiting for results, you may take our virtual class option. — Anyone who has been in contact with a person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days must be tested and may not enter until their test results come back negative. — Attendance will be taken in every class to facilitate contact tracing.
-
Do you have a policy regarding face-masks?We have to follow the guidelines set by the state of New Jersey. Masks are optional as of now. The dance brand Bloch came out with masks for dancers that we have tried and recommended. CLICK HERE if you would like to look into this brand.
-
What should I do if my dancer is sick? Please refer to our COVID Decisions document for the most up-to-date guidelines. If a dancer starts to run a fever or gets sick while at SJDA, we will isolate the student and call the parents to pick the student up as soon as possible.
-
Will my dancer lose his/her place in class if they have a positive test and must quarantine? No, but your tuition must remain current so that your student retains their position in the class. If you decide to withdraw your student, due to a positive COVID-19 result their spot will not be guaranteed if they decide to return. Remember, our virtual class platform is always available.
-
Will I receive a refund if my dancer is sick or must quarantine? In the event a student is restricted from attending classes due to exposure to COVID, or due to a positive COVID test, SJDA will be using virtual / on-demand dance training. Normal tuition applies.
-
How is tuition handled if a class or classes must move to Virtual Dance Training due to COVID-19?SJDA charges season-long tuition that is collected in equal payments. If a class, group of classes, or the entire studio has to close, we will move back to offering Virtual Dance Training. This could happen for a few days, a few weeks, or longer. SJDA is doing everything we can to keep the studio open. However, we have alternate plans in the event of another mandatory shutdown. Tuition for Virtual classes will remain the same as in-person training. However, SJDA will continue to provide extra classes, and other bonus content for all enrolled students, just as we did from March through June of 2020.
-

May I watch my dancer take class?Class observation in our lobbies for all students has been suspended. All common areas are also closed to non-dancers. However, parents may enter (observing all COVID policies) to purchase dancewear, enroll in classes, pay tuition, etc. at the front desk. For students under the age of 5, SJDA is allowing one parent or guardian to accompany their child/children into class. Since our lobby is closed parents will not be allowed to wait inside the studio during their child's/children’s class. However, we encourage parents with children under the age of 5 to wait in the parking lot. For Dance with Me classes, the parent will join their child in class. Please refrain from bringing siblings or other guests, as we are still required to practice social-distancing in our lobbies. All guests are subject to standard COVID screening. We are committed to fully re-opening these spaces as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, SJDA staff will capture classroom footage to share with you via our social media platforms.
