Dance Classes

Dance With Me

Ages 18 months - 2 years old

Toddlers along with their parent/guardian will dance together while focusing on rhythm, steady-beat, imagination, music, and fun! This class is structured to stimulate coordination skills, listening skills, balance, musical interpretation, creative movement, and motor development in our youngest dancers. This 30-minute class is an excellent introduction to the world of dance and music. This class does not participate in the recital.

Pre School Ballet

Ages 2 ½ - 3 years old

This class is a child’s first introduction to independent creative movement and ballet. This class is structured to stimulate coordination skills, listening skills, balance, musical interpretation, and motor development in our youngest dancers.

Combo Classes

Ages 4 - 7 years old

Students will continue to learn how to express themselves and work on fine-motor skills through the art of both dance and music. Combination classes continue to develop the foundation of dance and introduce students to the beginning steps of each genre.

Ballet/Pointe

Ages 8 and Up

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. Proper ballet technique will improve all dancers strength, balance, posture, control, flexibility and rhythmic timing. Each class will emphasize barre exercises with center floor work and across-the-floor combinations. Teachers will evaluate students for proper placement in pointe.

Lyrical/Contemporary

Ages 8 and Up

Lyrical/Contemporary is a fluid form of dance done to popular ballads and slower contemporary music. This form of dance uses the technique and beauty of ballet while incorporating the sharp moves in jazz. Dancers are taught to tell a story through their movement and facial expressions. This class includes a warm-up focusing on core strength and flexibility in addition to floor work, progressions, and center combinations that focus on dance as much as it does storytelling.

Jazz

Ages 8 and Up

Jazz is an energetic type of dance that uses sharp movements to develop strength and coordination and control over each part of the body. Jazz can range in various styles from the excitement of funk and rock to the catchy tunes of Broadway. This class includes a warm-up focusing on flexibility, stretching, and isolations and progresses into across the floor and combinations.

Tap

Ages 8 and Up

Tap is a rhythmic class that focuses on executing percussive footwork. This class will have an emphasis placed on precision, speed, and clarity of sound while executing rhythmic patterns. Rhythm and musicianship skills are essential to building a solid dance education, but even more important in a tap class.

Musical Theater

Ages 7 and Up

Musical Theatre allows students to explore the art of the triple-threat: being a dancer, singer, and actor. Emphasis is placed on developing overall performance skills in addition to learning elements of all the disciplines. Students will learn how to execute choreography, sing both individual and group songs, and read a monologue or participate in a group scene. Students will focus on connecting with the audience and tell a story through their performance in any discipline.

Hip-Hop

Ages 6 and up

Hip Hop class is an excellent choice for high-energy students who want to dance and have fun to popular music. This class encourages students to bring their own individual style and personality to their movement. They will learn age appropriate hip-hop dancing and be challenged to think on their feet. Hip-Hop is fast-paced and focuses on strength and agility, along with free style movements of breaking, locking, and popping.

Move and Groove 

Ages 5 — 8

In this class you will be learning 3 genres of dance, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Acro. Jazz is an energetic type of dance that uses sharp movements to develop strength and coordination and control over each part of the body. They will learn age appropriate hip-hop dancing and be challenged to think on their feet. Hip-Hop is fast-paced and focuses on strength and agility, along with freestyle movements of breaking, locking, and popping. Acrobatics and tumbling combine elements of both dance and gymnastics to execute precision acrobatic elements. Students will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, muscle control, discipline, and concentration.They will also learn fundamental acrobatic techniques such as handstands, forward and backwards rolls, chin and elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, and contortion tricks. Students will be taught based on their own personal ability. Students will continue to learn how to express themselves and work on fine-motor skills through the art of both dance and music.

Acro/Tumbling

Ages 4 and Up

Acrobatics and tumbling combine elements of both dance and gymnastics to execute precision acrobatic elements. Students will focus on building strength, flexibility, balance, muscle control, discipline, and concentration. They will also learn fundamental acrobatic techniques such as handstands, forward and backwards rolls chin and elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, and contortion tricks. Students will be taught based on their own personal ability.

Triple Threat

Ages 6 and Up

If you want to be a triple threat this class is for you! In our Triple Threat class we bring together the fundamentals of acting, singing and dancing. The emphasis in this class is to strengthen each of the elements equally to create a well-rounded Triple Threat performer. Students will also spend time building on their technique using improv/theatre games to round out the full theatre experience. This class also helps prepare students for performance opportunities such as school musicals and talent shows.
