Milana Volovaya was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (Former Russia). She received her Vaganova method training at the Tashkent State Ballet Academy, Tashkent. After a successful graduation she joined and performed with State Tashkent Opera and Ballet Theater in classical and contemporary repertoire principal and solo roles in: Coppelia, Cinderella, Pas de Quatre, Paquita, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Vivaldi The Four Seasons, Cashmere Legend, Mozart’s Requiem, Dance When You Can, Jazz of Rebellious Youth, Prodigy and The Old Fashion Story. When she immigrated to USA she joined and performed with Ballet Jorgen in classical repertoire and works of contemporary choreography such as: Concerto Baroque, Cinderella, Paquita, Coppelia, Nutcracker, and works of various contemporary choreographers. She performed as a Guest Artist at Gala Concert with Academy of Ballet, San Francisco, CA; North Shore Repertory Dance Ensemble, NJ; The Performing Art Center of Southern Westchester, NY; Dickinson Performing Art Center, Hicksville, NY. 

 

Her acting credits include: Spokeswoman for Web Video advertising for international website “Women Artists of the World," appeared as a principal in TV Commercials for Newsweek Magazine and Ramada Inn Hotels, as well in CBS TV Pilot The Repair Shop.

 

During and after her performing career she turned her passion to teaching and applied her knowledge of Vaganova Ballet technique teaching children and adults in Russia, Canada and USA for a past 20 years. Presently besides Studio J Dance Academy, she also teaches Ballet technique and pointe classes at Dynamic Dance Development, Brooklyn, NY, as well as ballet technique to a Rhythmic Olympic Competition team at Gold Ray Rhythmic Gymnastic, Brooklyn, NY, and Lido-Isadora Rhythmic Gymnastics Sports School, Brooklyn, NY which over the years have been the homes of National Team members as well as several Junior Olympic National Championship and Compulsory Junior Olympic medalists.

 

Her present and former students were accepted into such well known institutions like: The Annual Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in NYC pre-professional program, School of American Ballet Summer Intensive program, The Juilliard School Division of Dance, Fiorello H. Laguardia High School Of Music and Performing Arts, and Philadelphia University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA.

 

Her class emphases on to enhance students' individual qualities, raise and strengthen their technical level, correct body alignment, coordination fostering their sense of artistry. She posses strong instructional and classroom management skills, commitment to students constant learning and development.
